Group Leader Reception

CSL Plasma- Parkersburg, WV

Responsible for training and coaching the reception staff and facilitating efficient donor flow through the center. Additional duties include registration of qualified, applicant and transfer donors. Possesses a general knowledge of the plasma pheresis operation.

  • In compliance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), assists qualified donors in completing the screening process. The screening procedures includes but are not limited to: assessing the self-administered health history, answering basic medical questions associated with the donation process, referring donors to medical staff when appropriate and performing health screening procedures such as blood pressure, pulse, weight, temperature. Performs finger stick to obtain sample to obtain donor’s hematocrit and total protein levels.
  • May be involved in registering applicant and transfer donors based upon completion of appropriate training and operational needs of the center.
  • Educates new donors on the use of therapeutic products made from donated plasma. Explains the screening process, the health screening tests performed, the appointment system, donation fees, center policies, proper nutrition and any other information pertinent to the donor. Ensures that all donors’ questions are answered timely, accurately and professionally.
  • Answers the telephone and assists in providing appropriate information to the caller.
  • Maintains alertness and awareness to any reaction a donor may have during or after the pheresis process and notifies appropriate staff.
  • Maximizes donor flow by allocating staff and resources to appropriate center area or task.
  • Conducts daily calibration of equipment according to SOP and Plasma Operating Procedures (POP). Resolves calibration issues. Troubleshoots equipment failures. Creates incident documentation, removes and/or replaces equipment from service.
  • Provides guidance and technical training on processes and procedures to reception staff and other staff as required.
  • Supports center management by providing input into staff scheduling, and resolves minor donor relations and technical procedure issues. Refers employee relations issues to center management staff.
  • Ensures the accurate recording of donor data in the electronic donor information management system as outlined in SOPs.
  • Understands the policies and procedures associated with hyper immune programs at the center if applicable.
  • Maintains clean efficient work environment, and ensures sufficient operating supplies and forms are available as needed. Follows all Health Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) policies and procedures. Promotes safety in all actions. May conduct routine audits of these internal procedures and documentation.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all personnel, donor and center information.
  • May be cross-trained in other areas to meet the needs of the business.
  • Bilingual skills may be required, at the discretion of the organization, to meet the needs of the business.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Education

Experience

  • Troubleshoots, repairs and services aircraft and engine systems. Conducts diagnosis of malfunctions.

  • Ensure compliance with quality and safety procedures/operations at the site level.

The incumbent performs journeyman level maintenance for mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic and electrical systems at a high lift lock and dam facility. Performs and participates in a variety of diagnostic inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs of associated lock and dam appurtenances.

  • Perform repairs and installations of hydraulic and mechanical systems, performs preventive maintenance, diagnostic maintenance inspections and rebuilds lock and dam operating systems, machinery, and related equipment at navigational facilities. Lock and dam facilities are characterized by electrically and/or hydraulically operated miter, emergency, tainter and/or roller gates (up to 500 tons) and tainter or stoney gate culvert valves.
  • Machinery at the facility are activated by electric, hydraulic, or a combination of electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
    • Equipment includes mobile land and floating hydraulic cranes, 600 ton bulkhead cranes and auxiliary piggy back cranes; diesel standby generator; a variety of gasoline and electric motors and pumps; electric haulage units for pulling non-propelled vessels through the lock chamber; heating and ventilation systems; hydraulic piping systems developing maximum operating pressures of 1650 psi; and electrical distribution power and control systems.
    • Performs installation of new equipment, maintenance, repair, overhaul or replacement of parts, systems, equipment, etc., normally associated with the building, grounds and utilities of such facilities.
    • Inspects, adjusts, lubricates, tests, installs, calibrates, and/or performs major and minor repairs at regularly scheduled intervals. Disassembles electric/hydraulic systems or subsystems thereof to determine extent of repairs and/or overhaul required; checks and adjusts gear reducers, limit switches and selsyn circuits controlling tainter gates and/or culvert valves; large horsepower electric motors; hydraulic pumps; position indicators; detection systems; electrical and mechanical interlocks; rectifiers, transformer banks, automatic switchgear and control panels; magnetic D.C. operated friction and induction clutches; air compressors and distribution system; installs new equipment requiring power and control cables etc.
    • Utilizes electrical schematic drawings and traces complex circuits to diagnose malfunctions and extent of required repairs. Installs temporary circuits to bypass faulty area if trouble cannot be readily located and corrected. Works from as built drawings, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and electrical maintenance and repair manuals to plan and layout placement of equipment. Utilizes formal in-house preventive maintenance system to record and ensure timely and adequate maintenance of all systems and structures.
  • Performs Lock and Dam Operations. Occasionally is required to perform lock and dam operator duties.
    • Lock and dam facilities are characterized by electrically and/or hydraulically controlled gates and related equipment. Directs vessels approach and entry into the lock chamber.
    • Operates controls for filling and emptying culvert valves to raise or lower lock chamber water level.
    • Determines when water level are correct and operates controls to open and close miter gates.
    • Collects and encodes real time LPMS and hydraulic river data according to established policy.
    • Operates electrically control tainter and/or roller dam gates to maintain pool elevation in accordance with standard operating procedures or special directives
  • May be assigned as a primary credit cardholder responsible for purchasing parts, materials and supplies for project operation and maintenance requirements in accordance with written procedures and policies governing purchase actions under this authority.
  • Operates mobile land plant and floating plant equipment.
    • Operation of this equipment is often performed in work areas restricted in maneuverability and where accuracy is critical.
    • Required to position equipment in precise locations, using extreme boom angles that greatly reducing the lifting capacity of the crane and further restricting maneuverability.
    • Assignments require moving large, heavy, or awkward loads with mobile and floating cranes at or near their lifting capacity with the operator having to make quick judgments during continual position changes.
