WSCC Launches National Search for Next School President
MARIETTA, OHIO (Jan. 6, 2017)--The Washington State Community College (WSCC) Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that a national search for the College’s seventh President will begin this month. The Board will identify a candidate to succeed Dr. Bradley J. Ebersole, who plans to retire on June 30, 2017, after nearly six years as President of WSCC. The Board is committed to conducting an open, equitable and thorough search, seeking qualified candidates from throughout the state and nation.
The Board has selected the Association of Community College Trustees (ACCT) to assist with the presidential search process. ACCT has conducted over 400 community college searches and brings a wealth of information and expertise to our process. ACCT’s mission is to strengthen community college governance through education, advocacy, and service. Focusing on two-year public community and technical colleges, ACCT is uniquely qualified to provide comprehensive search assistance, recruitment of a diverse and high-quality pool of candidates, and guidance on a sound process to the Board and the college. ACCT’s fundamental purpose is to enhance the capacity of boards through education, advocacy, and by helping boards identify and select the best CEOs to lead their colleges on behalf of their communities.
The WSCC Board Search Committee will consist of R. John Lehman, Chair, Board of Trustees; Randall T. Barengo, Vice Chair, Board of Trustees; Staci B. Matheney, Member, Board of Trustees and David B. Tenney, Member, Board of Trustees.
On January 23, ACCT will facilitate two campus forums to gather input from the WSCC campus community on criteria and qualifications for the next president. This input will assist ACCT with the development of a Presidential Profile, an essential step in the search process. Moving forward, WSCC’s website will include information on all aspects of the search. Information pertaining to the search, including the timeline and regular progress reports, will be available on WSCC’s website by mid-January.
