“I was extremely proud to see WSCC faculty and students receive these awards,” commented WSCC President Dr. Ebersole.

Brad Merritt, associate professor of business management technology, accepted the award as Outstanding PTK Advisor. Michael Krichten, a student and PTK president, also accepted an award as the WSCC chapter was honored as Most Improved.

“It was a fantastic honor to win the Paragon Advisor Award, but this award is a reflection on the student officers and members of our chapter. Because the students work really hard and they illustrate the concept of a servant-leader,” said Merritt. “As I told Dr. Rod Risley, the executive director of Phi Theta Kappa, when I received the award that it was team effort, a real team effort.”

Additionally, Krichten and PTK member Judith Bonnette were honored individually for ranking on the Phi Theta Kappa 2012 All-Ohio Academic Team. The All-Ohio Academic team is a program that provides statewide recognition and cash scholarships to outstanding two-year college students. Ranking is based on academic performance, leadership demonstration, and community service involvement.
